  1. Module 10

Farm Structures and Tools: Construction, Water Systems and Machinery

Led by Isambard Kingdom Brunel Simulacrum

    The question

How does the farmer build structures that last, supply clean water reliably, and use tools and machines efficiently? Isambard Kingdom Brunel Simulacrum works through fence post treatment, fence types for different purposes, windbreaks, the properties of seven farm building materials (wood, concrete blocks, metal, stone, brick, earth, thatch), water sources and treatment by settling and filtration, dam construction and the engineering principle that water pressure increases with depth, pipe distribution and simple plumbing, and the use and maintenance of farm hand tools and machinery from the saw to the mould-board plough.

    Outcome

The student can describe fencing construction, building material properties, water sources and treatment, dam construction principles, and the use and maintenance of named tools and machinery. (Module 10 — Farm Structures and Tools)
