Reflections from members of the Universitas

“I have spent some time ‘playing’ with some of the simulacra. I have found it to be a remarkable tool to use, for improving my ability to read languages, but also in doing my own personal research. Having used LLMs for a couple of years now, I can personally say that the difference between their responses and those of the simulacra here is simply vast. The simulacra respond in a manner in which you should expect them to, as experts in their respective fields. And the discussions between themselves on a question you pose them is fascinating and for me, a fantastic educational tool. I have barely scratched the surface, and I’m very much looking forward to ‘playing’ some more.”
“It had been five weeks since I first tried out the Universitas Scholarium. And the Universitas Scholarium still impresses me. Each of my conversations has treated issues and ideas of mine that will be practical for me, most of them professionally. That includes the German ‘tutorial’ that I have begun undertaking with the Magister, after having studied it at the university a long while ago. I am struck by just how much detail the simulacra have given me.”
“Recently, I also deliberately tried asking [a general-purpose LLM] some questions that I’d also put to some of the simulacra in my conversations in the U. Scholarium. The U. Scholarium simulacrum for Plato had quite a bit more detail. For the other simulacrum conversation that I compared with results for [that LLM], my experience has turned out to be even strikingly more different, and pleasantly so. Indeed, the Henri Poincaré simulacrum has unexpectedly begun launching me and itself into what looks like will continue to be hands-on training for the non-technical aspect of an independent project related to mathematics which I am pursuing in my free time.”
“For the Magister conversation which I have just initiated as a learner who is studying German primarily both to read in German and to translate German-language literature into English, the results so far are promising a great experience.”
