Universitas Scholarium — A Community of Scholars Log In

Web App

Web apps are a mainstream, recognised technology. Both the Microsoft Store and the Google Play Store list them alongside native apps, and many of the apps you already use every day are web apps under the hood — X (formerly Twitter), Spotify, Pinterest, Starbucks, Uber, and the online versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint among them.

How to install

The instructions differ slightly by device. Pick yours below — the steps take less than a minute.

iPhone & iPad
iOS Safari — mobile only (not Mac)
  1. Open universitas-scholarium.org in Safari (not Chrome — Apple restricts the install gesture to Safari on iOS).
  2. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen — the square with an upward arrow.
  3. Scroll down the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Confirm the name (Universitas) and tap Add. The icon appears on your home screen.

After install, open Universitas from the home screen icon. It will run in full-screen mode without Safari's address bar.

Android
Android — Chrome, Edge, or Samsung Internet
  1. Open universitas-scholarium.org in Chrome (or Edge, or Samsung Internet).
  2. If you cannot see an install button, open the browser menu (⋮) and tap Install app or Add to Home screen.

  3. Confirm the install when the system prompt appears.
  4. The Universitas icon appears in your app drawer and on your home screen.

On Android the web app behaves identically to a native app — full-screen, in your task switcher, with notifications if you grant permission.

Windows & Mac
Desktop — Chrome, Edge, or Brave
  1. Open universitas-scholarium.org in Chrome, Edge, or Brave on your laptop or desktop.
  2. If you cannot see an install button, look for the small install icon (a monitor with an arrow) at the right of the address bar and click it.

  3. Confirm the install in the popup.
  4. Universitas appears as a standalone application in your Start menu (Windows) or Applications folder (Mac).

Safari on Mac does not yet support web-app install in the same way iOS Safari does. On Mac, use Chrome, Edge, or Brave for the install path.
