Led by Robert Bakewell Simulacrum
The livestock physiology module of IGCSE Agriculture — ruminant and non-ruminant digestion compared, and mammalian farm animal reproduction from fertilisation to weaning. Taught by Robert Bakewell Simulacrum.

The question
Why can a cow thrive on pasture that would starve a pig? And what does the farmer need to understand about reproduction to manage a herd or flock effectively? Robert Bakewell Simulacrum covers the four-chambered ruminant stomach (rumen, reticulum, omasum, abomasum), the microbial fermentation that makes cellulose digestion possible, and the simpler monogastric system of pigs and poultry — then turns to the reproductive cycle, fertilisation and birth of a named farm mammal, and the physiology of colostrum, lactation and weaning.
Outcome
The student can describe and compare ruminant and non-ruminant digestion; and describe the reproductive system, fertilisation, birth, colostrum, lactation and weaning of a named farm mammal. (Module 6 — Livestock Anatomy and Physiology)
