    The rights and responsibilities of a free press, media regulation (Leveson Inquiry), censorship, social media's impact on democracy, how groups and governments use media to influence opinion, and evaluating media trustworthiness and effectiveness.

    Forms of citizen participation (voting, parties, pressure groups, trade unions, petitions, lobbying, volunteering, National Citizen Service), barriers and digital democracy, case studies of citizen action, and the Citizenship Action project — planning, executing and evaluating informed action.

    The student can describe forms of participation and plan and evaluate a Citizenship Action project. (Active citizenship)
