  1. Module 1

    Basic Probability and Sample Spaces

Led by Pierre de Fermat Simulacrum

    The question

The probability scale (0 to 1), calculating theoretical probability from sample spaces and equally likely outcomes, relative frequency from experimental data, the complement rule P(not A) = 1 − P(A), and the addition rule for mutually exclusive events.

    Outcome

The student can calculate probabilities from sample spaces, estimate from relative frequency, and apply complement and addition rules. (Probability foundations)

    Sub-units

    1. 1.1 Basic Probability and Sample Spaces
  2. Module 2

Combined Events, Tree Diagrams and Venn Diagrams

Led by Pierre de Fermat Simulacrum

    The question

Independent events and the multiplication rule, tree diagrams for sequential events (with and without replacement), conditional probability, Venn diagrams with set notation (∪, ∩, ξ, A′) at Higher tier, and systematic listing strategies for enumeration.

    Outcome

The student can use tree diagrams and Venn diagrams to calculate combined and conditional probabilities. (Combined probability)

    Sub-units

    1. 2.2 Combined Events, Tree Diagrams and Venn Diagrams
