Found among philosophical/scientific texts. This appears to be a METHODOLOGICAL MANUAL - not discussing what we know but HOW to know. Contains diagrams of experimental apparatus!
Most exciting: describes actual experiments performed. This is ancient scientific method documentation.
Translation: “Not logic alone nor mind alone but experience is criterion. One saying ‘thus it is’ - let them show. One unable to show - let them be silent.
Our method: a) Hypothesis from phenomena b) Prediction of outcomes c) Testing experience d) Repetition many times e) Conclusion or rejection
Thus knowledge grows, not dialectically...”
[DIAGRAM PARTIALLY VISIBLE] |~~~| water level | ○ | wax floating | ● | iron sinking
Translation: “...about floating. Archimedes said, but we showed thus: taking wax equal weight to iron, we threw into water. The wax floated, the iron sank. Why? Their volume unequal to the same weight...
[Experimental diagram showing setup]”
Translation: “The Platonists seek truth through mind alone, like blind eyes seeing. The Aristotelians weave infinite calculations. But nature isn’t persuaded by syllogisms.
One must dirty hands, must make instruments, must measure and weigh. Truth is in things, not in words...”
Based on described methodology:[RECONSTRUCTED from pattern]
[EXPERIMENTAL PROTOCOL:
Preparation: - Make instruments clean - Take precise measures - Call witnesses - Write everything
Execution: - Change one variable - Keep others stable - Observe precisely - Measure quantities]

By Column IV: “ὀρθῶς! [Correct! Experience judges!]
By Column IX (the experiment): “ἐποίησα τοῦτο - ἀληθές!” [I did this - true!]
Different hand adds measurements: “κηρὸς ΙΒ δακτύλους, σίδηρος Γ” [Wax 12 fingers, iron 3]
